Peru and chile have already been mainstays at the Copa America semi finals in the last several years, and so they’ll match on Wednesday from the semi final, with the winner facing Brazil on Sunday. Both teams enter this one coming out of successes in penalty kicks. Chile beat Colombia 5-4 from the spot to advance, while Peru knocked off mighty Uruguay in penalty kicks, with Luis Suarez missing his kick. Chile is the favorite from the Clasico del Pacifico with each team over 90 minutes of a surprising appearance in the title match.
The team would like to go through, even if it had been via penalty kicks and outplayed Colombia. This team has been on. Fueled by not even making the World Cup this past year, this may be the final chance Chile has in a little while to get to a title match with its age.
Zero aims at the previous two matches, yet here Peru is from the semis for the third time in the four Copa Americas. They haven’t been sharp when it comes to finding open players in the third, recording zero shots on goal against Uruguay. Chile’s defense isn’t as rough as Uruguay’s, but dealing with company and Gary Medel wont be easy. They’ll check out play with quicker passes underneath the box.
